DIY: Self-Organizing Teams

This article is my understanding of the book “Elastic Leadership” – Growing Self Organizing Teams by ROY OSHEROVE.
This is my first blog... Apologies if is not narrative, Please suggest me any improvements !! Thank you
The first objective is to understand the “Team Adaptability”!!
The first thing any leader should do is to prepare your team to become more adaptive to put is short ready for change this mind preparedness is the real platform to get things going.
How do you make your team members understand that change is very important and necessary for each individual?
  • Everyone should agree that no one is an expert on any given thing. (don’t take it too hard which may kill the trust)
  • If they claim they are expert let them handle all the critical situation that arises.
  • An individual contributor can be successful but when others fail it’s the team failure which doesn’t add any credit to the individual contributor.

The Reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man
What kind of leader do you want to be?
 Command and Control, Coach, Facilitator
When to be a Commander / Coach / Facilitator?
This depends on the type of mode the team should be directed to be doing for some time or till some situation is resolved.
Command and Control
This has to when the team is new and lacks direction to proceed further on being successful.
This is best suited when the team in a crisis situation.
Coach

Remove your dependency on the team
Facilitator

What are the Team modes we need to follow with the right mix of the leader role you like to play?
